The OpenAI's built-in image generator for ChatGPT is called DALL·E. It allows users to generate AI-created images based on text descriptions. The latest version can create high-quality images and even edit existing ones.
DALL•E is now available for everyone using ChatGPT. At launch to the chatbot, it's limited to paid subscribers (including Plus, Pro and Teams). due to high demand. According to OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman, they have to delay the rollout of the image generator for a while because the demand on the tool is too high beyond expectations.
In addition to the free usage for everyone, OpenAI now allows users to use the image generator directly in ChatGPT, without having to switch to DALL-E generator.
In addition to what Altman said, free users can make up to three images per day. However, some free users accounts may only get one per day. If you can create more than one, you might still have to wait a few minutes or even hours before generating another.
To use the image generator:
- Kindly open ChatGPT and login to your account.
- Choose the image style you want. Three (3) styles are mostly used: Ghibli, realistic, and cartoon style.
- Upload a image you wish to transform and give your instructions. You can also generate image by describing what you want in prompts.
- Describe your request clearly (e.g., “Make this Ghibli-style”), and wait for the image to be generated.
- You can modify the image to your preference and after the edit, you can download the image to your device.
