In our previous article, we explain how to set up Apple Pay account for use at HomeGoods store. Today, we bring to you an exciting news about Apple Pay being accepted on the PlayStation store.
You know, just like you could already use PayPal or a regular credit or debit card on the game console. Apple Pay has been added as another option to pay.
The metric is very simple. You will be shown a QR code that you can scan with your iPhone or iPad to complete the transaction whenever you want to buy a game on the PlayStation store.
If you've been using PS5 for a while now, you would have noticed that you cannot directly use Apple Pay to purchase a game on the console until now. Before, it's either you use the console's browser or the PlayStation App on iOS.
Now, thanks for the update because simplifies the process for PS5 owners, who typically have a credit card linked to their PlayStation account.
Meanwhile, the most amazing thing I must say about this update is that Apple Card users also benefit from this development, as they can more conveniently earn 2 percent cash back on Apple Pay transactions for PS5 game purchase.
The Apple Pay integration with PS5 was made possible through an iOS 18 update. If you don't know, let me make it clear. The iOS 18 lets iPhone and iPad (and other iOS devices) users to purchase things on third-party browsers like Chrome and Firefox with a unique QR code.
This change sets the stage for broader Apple Pay integration across various browsers and devices. It also position Apple Pay as an alternative to payment method like PayPal that's well-known on the platform.
Lastly, support planned for a future software update is coming to PS4.
How to use Apple Pay on PS Store
Buying games directly on your game console is the goal. You don't need to go through browser or iOS app to do that now. If you want to buy any game, choose the game on your PS5 console store, and add the game to cart.
Next, you need to choose Apple Pay as your payment method on the checkout page. Once that is done, review your order and click on "Confirm Purchase". The dedicated amount of the game will be charged from your Apple Pay account.
Meanwhile, you need to take note that Apple Pay for payment is not currently available for PS4 users as at the time of writing. It's also important to let you know that if Apple Pay isn’t available in your country, it won’t appear as a payment option. So, you don't have to bother yourself looking for the option.
