Deleting transactions history on OPay might seems good but it's unfortunate that we are not allowed to perform such task on the mobile money app. However, just like it's done on Palmpay, there's always a work around for something that is impossible to do.
While there's no direct way within the OPay app to delete or clear your transactions history, you can remove your OPay data from linked accounts like Facebook, you can archive transaction receipts, you can download your transactions statement.
Meanwhile, if you're still insisting on deleting your OPay's transactions history completely, then you'll need to permanently delete your OPay account. Permanently deleting your account will erase all your personal and financial data, including transaction receipts, statement, and history, from OPay database.
Why can't transactions history be deleted on OPAY?
The reason is straightforward. Security and Future references is the reason you're not allowed to delete your transactions statement on OPAY. This rule doesn't only apply to Opay user, it's applicable to all financial institutions and banks in Nigeria.
You can't directly delete individual transactions or your entire transaction history within any finance app itself as mandated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The transaction history is a record of your financial activity, and the CBN accept no such act for fintech companies and banks under its watch.
In a nutshell, you cannot delete transaction history on your OPay account because the CBN and federal regulations prohibit financial institutions, including OPay, Palmpay, Kuda, Moniepoint and other banks from allowing customers to delete transaction records. These regulations makes sure there's transparency, security, prevention of fraud, and maintenance of accurate financial records for security and tax compliance purposes.
Now that you've known that you cannot delete your transactions history, statement, or record from OPay, what are the things you can do with these records?
- You can view your transactions record on the OPAY. In fact you can view them individually to get details like transaction ID, session ID, time and date and types of transaction. You can also view you transaction receipt on OPay to log a complain directly from the receipt.
- You can filter your transactions history on the OPay app. You can filter them by day, week, and even months. This ensure you to search particular transaction receipt without going through bunches of transactions.
- Lastly, you can download your transaction history on OPay for reference. The transaction history will be sent to your email as a statement of account. The statement will contain everything about each transaction in rows and columns.

In conclusion, you can't delete transaction history within the OPay app itself, I mean while deleting is not permitted, you can permanently delete your account to remove all associated data, including transaction history from the company's database.
