Ripple, a San Francisco-based technology company focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency solutions, announced on Monday that it has collaborated with the Web3 Salon initiative, led by the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan, to support startups leveraging the XRP Ledger (XRPL) in Japan. The collaboration is for the purpose of improving XRPL development.

Ripple offers to give grants of up to $200,000 per project over the next year through the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund. which are all part of Ripple's $1 billion XRP commitment between XRPL Japan and Korea Fund and the company itself. With this pledge, Ripple can offer financial, business, and technical support for developers and startups building on the XRPL.

However, it's important to note that the $200,000 per project Ripple pledge is aimed only at tokenized real-world assets (RWA) projects, decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, and digital payments startups projects. According to the official announcement by Ripple, the project is supported by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and powered by the Asia Web3 Alliance Japan.

Ripple Extends XRP Adoption in Japan

It's important to let you know that this is not the first time Ripple is investing in the Japan's digital asset ecosystem. Before now, Ripple has joined force with many companies in Japan including HashKey DX, Yonsei University, SBI Holdings, and Mercari.

In addition to these existence in Japan, partnerships with Web3 Salon further extends XRP adoption in the country with a specific focus on supply chain finance, startup fundings, payments, and Web3, NFTs. The fun fact about this is that 80% Japanese banks are set to adopt Ripple’s XRP by 2025 end.

The XRP Ledger was launched in 2012 by Ripple (formerly Ripple Labs). It is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform designed for fast, low-cost, and scalable digital transactions and cross-border payment solutions. The XRPL serves as the foundation for the XRP cryptocurrency and enables global peer-to-peer payments, tokenization, and decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.

Ripple and Web3 Salon Community Events

Ripple and Web3 Salon have planned to co-host four (4) community events sessions running from June 2025 to March 2026. The purpose of the events is to showcase Japan’s advancements in blockchain technology, facilitate networking opportunities for investors, and provide educational workshops.

Ripple wants to use these events as key components to further bolster the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem across the Asia continent. Japan’s clear regulatory environment and deep technical talent make it a prime market for blockchain innovation, but startups often face structural challenges.

Ripple's commitments into Japan's digital asset ecosystem aim to lower barriers to entry, and provide critical resources and visibility. By combining Ripple’s financial backing and global network with Web3 Salon’s local expertise, the projects will catalyze innovation, attract new talent to the XRP Ledger, and strengthen Japan’s position in the global Web3 landscape.
