Flutterwave, provider of multiple software development kits, API and plugins for merchant's payment collections, has announced the relaunched of its flagship remittance service—Send App by Flutterwave—across US states following the acquisition of 20 Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs).
The 20 MTLs it's just secured add to the 14 operations licenses the company secured in 2023. Now, Flutterwave is currently operating under 34 Licenses in the United States, allowing the company to conduct business in various U.S. states and territories independently, without the need for partners or middlemen.
With these Licenses, Diasporans in the US can now use Send App by Flutterwave to send money to Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt. Send App by Flutterwave customers in the United States can now send money from DC, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan, South Carolina, and Tennessee to Nigeria, Ghana, and Egypt.
In addition to that, they can also send money from the following states and territories:
- Alaska
- Arizona
- Arkansas
- Delaware
- Idaho
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Nebraska
- New Hampshire
- New Mexico
- North Dakota
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Puerto Rico
- Rhode Island
- South Dakota
- Utah
- Washington
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
However, these 34 Licenses only allow Flutterwave—through the Send App—to support outward remittances from any of the states/territories listed above. In other words, inwards remittance are blocked. This means, users can only use Send by Flutterwave to send money to their family and friends in Africa.
In contrary to the outward Licenses Flutterwave secured in the U.S., the company has long secured inward remittance licenses in the African nations where the money are remitted. Earlier this year, the company secured approval approval for inward remittance from the Bank of Ghana.
Flutterwave also have similar Licenses in Egypt, and Nigeria. In addition to that, new users that wants to join the platform will now see new onboarding interface featured with a quick ID check that makes it quicker and seamless for account registration.
Furthermore, Flutterwave has also made enhancements to optimize payment processing for Visa and Discover cards issued in the U.S. These help strengthen security protocols to protect transactions and ensure regulatory compliance, and streamline in-app processes for a smoother and more efficient user experience when sending payments.
