Amazon has introduced Alexa+ into the Amazon Music. Alexa Plus is the company's next-generation AI assistant that's powered by generative AI and designed to offer deeper back-and-forth conversations than the previous version.
The AI assistant is integrated into Amazon Music mobile app (iOS and Android), though for now it’s only available in the Early Access beta program. The integration works across all subscription tiers of Amazon Music—meaning you don’t need the top-tier plan to participate.
With Alexa+ in the music app, you can use natural, and more conversational queries like: “What’s the song in the opening credits of The Sopranos?” “Play 2010s hits that keep me moving fast, starting with a track by Nicki Minaj.” “Recommend new music that would make me cool to my 13-year-old daughter but not try too hard.”
Amazon says that users in the Alexa+ program “explored 3× more songs” than with the old version of Alexa, and those using it for recommendations listened to about 70% more music.
Features of the Alexa Plus Integration into Apple Music
The Alexa Plus integration into Apple Music has taken music searching to a whole new level. What makes it even more powerful is how it understands natural and detailed requests.
Do you know that instead of you recognizing song titles or artist names, Alexa+ can help you find a track. You only need to remember a few lyrics or recall where you heard it—like in a TV show or movie.
In addition to that, you can describe the kind of music you want by mentioning a time period, mood, or instrument—and the AI assistant will tailor the playlist according to your preferences.
For instance, you might ask it to play upbeat pop songs from the ’90s featuring Madonna but to leave out any boy bands.
That's not all! The integration also allows sharing in the sense that it shares extra details, such as how well a song performed on music charts, what festivals certain artists are playing at, or even explain the meaning behind a song’s lyrics.
In short, Alexa Plus turns music listening into a more personal and conversational experience, giving you more control over what you hear and helping you rediscover songs effortlessly.
Alexa Plus Gives Amazon Music a Competitive Edge
In the recent years, we've seen streaming platforms increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to leverage and stay competitive in the market. So, the integration of Alexa+ into Amazon Music—discovery experience that let users “talk to it like a friend”—gives Amazon the ground to compete more strongly with players like Spotify and Apple Music.
In addition to that, the integration makes Alexa+ more central to daily user interaction. According to Amazon's statement in the announcement:
“Customers can dive deeper into genres, uncover artist influences and discographies, trace sample origins from their favorite tracks, and even ask, ‘what’s this song about?‘”
“Even when your requests aren’t specific, Alexa Plus connects the dots to deliver the right music.”
