Requirements and Documents Needed
Here are the documents needed to apply for South Africa's eVisa online. It's essential to let all these documents valid and align with the country's visa activities to avoid unnecessary delays or visa denial.
- Valid International Passport with at least one blank page. (ECOWAS passport is also accepted if you're African).
- Proof of funds and sufficient funds for upkeep while in South Africa.
- Return or onward ticket.
- Yellow Fever Certificate. This document is for applications travelling from the risk belts.
Note: You are required to submit your application through the official eHome Affairs portal only! It's necessary to avoid third-party websites that my imposed extra fee or even scam you.
Furthermore, if you're with minors requiring additional consent or in one way or the other you're requiring additional consent, you must carry a printed copy of their eVisa and all supporting documents upon arriving in South Africa, while strictly complying with the visa's validity period.
How to Apply

- Visit the country's Department of Home Affair's eHome Affair online portal at https://ehome.dha.gov.za/epermit/home, and check your if your country is among the eligible nations.
- If your country is confirmed eligible, then you need to register/create an account using your valid email address and unique/preferred password on the eHome Affair website.
- Once that's done, then you need to fill out the application form which includes choosing the correct visa type (e.g., tourist, business), and entering your personal and travel information.
- Next, you'll be required to digitally upload all required documents on the eHome Affair website. These are paperwork in the application processes and the documents needed for upload are your passport bio-data page, your passport-sized photo, your travel itinerary or booking, your proof of sufficient funds (such as a bank statement or salary slip), your return flight ticket, and your Yellow Fever certificate if applicable.
- Once all the required documents have been digitally uploaded, then proceed to pay the Visa fees. The Visa fees cost R370 (approximately $25), and it's payable online using an internationally accepted credit or debit card. Note: the Visa fee is not refundable once payment has been processed.
- Once payment is made, submit the application. After submission, you'll receive a reference number to monitor your application status online. The eVisa application will be processed within two weeks. Once approved, you’ll receive the eVisa via email, which you should print and present at immigration point upon arrival.
