Reports indicate that the vice president traveled to London at the request of President Bola Tinubu, who reportedly issued the directive after returning from Ethiopia.
This decision was prompted by concerning developments regarding the health of former President Muhammadu Buhari, despite earlier reassurances from his former aide, Bashir Ahmad, who dismissed any health-related concerns.
A funeral ceremony has been arranged for the late president. He will be laid to rest (buried) tomorrow, Monday, July 14, in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. A close relative of the late former president told The Punch that his body would be flown back to Nigeria to be buried in his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.

Muhammadu Buhari was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, a town in Katsina State, in northern Nigeria. He died on Sunday afternoon, July 13, 2025, in London, United Kingdom. Before his passing, he served as the Nigerian Army general who ruled as a military head of state and democratic president of Nigeria.
He was a Nigerian politician and retired major general who served as the president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023. He first came to power in 1983 through a military coup but was overthrown less than two years later. Decades later, he returned to politics as a civilian and won the presidency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During his time in office, Buhari focused on fighting corruption, improving security, and boosting the economy. While his efforts were praised by some, others criticized his leadership style and handling of national challenges. He stepped down in 2023 after completing two terms.
